QUARTER HORSE FRIENDS
COMMENTS/REQUESTS WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM QUARTERHORSE FRIENDS

I was reading your membership requirements and was curious if I would qualify to join.
I was not directly assigned to the 1/4th Cav, but was with the 701st Maint Bn sent out
to support the Cav. I was attached to do repairs to the APCs and Tanks. Numerous
times I accompanied the Cav on operations, especially during Operation Cedar Falls and
Junction City in the Iron Triangle. It was NOT fun! But we all did what we had to.
My primary assignment was with the 701st from Aug 66 to Jul 67. I am awaiting my
membership in the Society of the 1st Inf Div and am a Past Commander of my local VFW
and member of the American Legion. I have also received The Order of the Silver Rose,
11 Nov 02. I was curious if this was another organization I could become a part of.
Thanks for you time.......Howard.

Big Red One Brothers, I am looking for any brother who might remember Danny Estep.
In country and made the push through Saigon onboard a armored P.C. and hit a mine
in August, 1968. He remembers a fellow named Johnny White Cloud, (a black fellow).
Have been trying for the past five / six years to help my brother-in-law remember
any one from his unit. His memory is pretty well gone. He was sent back to Fort
Sam with a many severe wounds. Please respond to myself in behalf of Danny.

Hi, I am on the look out for Marshall "Smokey" Hensley. With the 1/4 Cal in
Phu Loi in 67/68. We were at Ft Eustis together in 66-67 and I ran into him
somewhere on route 13 in early 68. Got to come to Phu Loi one day and spent
some time with him. Think he probably returned to the Ft Story-Virginia Beach

Hi: I am looking for a my pop's buddy from Texas. Just thought I would ask if you
by any chance know a man named Paul W. Potter, he was in the 1st and 4th cav
Vietnam 65-66. I think he retired from the military, I am not sure. Any
information would be greatly appreciated, thought perhaps he might be a
member. He would know my dad, Sheldon Phillips, because they both grew this

I thought I would take a moment and let you know of some other sites you may
want to add to your web site. I was sitting here reading the article in the
latest edition of Brigehead Sentinel, and reading about the old D Troop and
what our soldiers are doing in Kosovo now. I am the wife of one of our D
Troopers that is currently in Kosovo. I thought you'd be interested in
seeing what our guys and girls have been doing for the last 6 months. The
Darkhorse Detachment Page address is wwww.geocities.com/Pentagon/Base/5039
This site was put together by one of our own, who thought it would be a
great way to keep in touch with loved ones and to let us see what they've been doing.
The other address I'd like to share is our 1-4 Cav homepage here in
Schweinfurt, Germany. It just gives you a little background on our troopers
here. Hope this helps you guys out.

RON RENNE Hi, my name is Ron Renne and I served with
Charlie Co 2/16 Inf in Vietnam from 4-66 to 4-67. The 1/4 Cav was stationed at Di-an base camp
with us at the time, so much history. Now I run the sales dept for the 16th Inf Association. I
was reading your assoc. mail and saw your inquiry about pins, patches and crests. I still have
some full size 1/4 Cav Unit Crests on hand by Meyer Insignia Co. The cost is $6.00 each or
$11.00 for a set plus $3.20 postage. If you are interested, you can send a check made out to
the 16th Inf Regt Assoc. Send to: Ron Renne 12 Hyacinth Lane Holbrook, NY 11741-1912.

PMSubject: 1/4 CavSirs!I happened to find your page on the Web and wanted to drop you a line.
I am a German sergeant with the 12thTank Recon Battalion in Ebern/Germany. In August 99, just
some weeks ago, I had the privilege to take part in the "Spur Ride" with our sister unit the 1st
Squadron 4th Cav at Conn Barracks Schweinfurt/Germany. I really enjoyed this event and I can say
that I amone of the few German soldiers who proudly wears a pair of Cavalry spurs from that day
forevermore.Of course I am fluent singing the Regimental Song, the Division Song and the Army
song.During my stay at Conn barracks I was able to read a lot about the days when the Squadron
was in Vietnam. All the articles and pictures were framed and placed on walls inside the staff
building. So I want to end my short mail by saying, IF YOU AINT CAV, YOU AINT SHIT! Cav is really
a state of mind.....
